Metal Mario I don't really like because he's a very lazy, yet shiny swap. Although somewhat annoying, the mode for Super Mario 64 has killer music and sound effects.
Metal Sonic looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing however, as there was a lot more craftsmanship creating the design.
Both modes pale compared to its predecessors the Star(man) and the invincibility spark, which allow both characters to not only go fast but jump, not to mention the awesome music.
Kamehameha Mario indeed.
